The regal name, Middlemist Midnight Magic actually tells a story about the 1999 birth of this strapping, 15.2H mahogany bay Morgan stallion. Owner Dr. Susan McLellan, a small animal veterinarian in New York City and lifelong horsewoman, had meticulously planned the arrival of this foal, from the careful choice of stallion for her mare to hands-on foal watch for the much-anticipated arrival. But Middlemist Midnight Magic, or Merlin as he is affectionately known, had plans of his own and true to his bold nature, he astonished everyone with a surprise midnight arrival at Windswept Acres in Delancey, NY. McLellan recalls, “From the moment he was born, he had a curiosity about the world and great temperament that he still has today.”

Merlin possesses the boldness, agility and elegant Morgan looks necessary to stand out in the show ring against tough competition. “He has the expressive Morgan eye, uphill build and gorgeous arched neck tapering to a pretty head,” says McLellan with pride. She adds, “However, it’s his athletic ability and positive attitude that makes his future so exciting.” This talented stallion is soft and responsive enough to bring home the blues in Dressage, yet fearless enough to tackle cones and obstacles with enthusiasm. McLellan explains the sense of pride and enjoyment that accompanies competing a horse of this caliber, “Carriage driving demands a great deal from the horse and the driver because it encompasses three different skill sets within one discipline. Not only must you have flawless gaits and impeccable manners for the ring classes, you must have precision, impulsion and relaxation demanded by the dressage classes. And third, you must have speed, precision and a bit of the daredevil in you for the obstacle courses or cross country courses. It’s not easy, but it certainly is a lot of fun.”

Merlin is being offered for stud in the spring of 2010 through the collection station at SUNY Cobleskill, with semen available for shipping to any location. Merlin carries well known Catskill Morgan bloodlines including sire Catskill Star Trek by Stillwater Senator. He is out of Del View Nocturne Nikie by Del View Nekomi King. His current foals on the ground are proof that he passes along his size, athletic ability and sweet disposition. Kylie always thought the closest she would ever get to a horse of her own was in her dreams.

One Sunday she and her family went out to Quality Stables and this big handsome gelding was brought out and she was told it was for a young lady named KYLIE! “That’s nice,” says Kylie not registering!

“Kylie, I think it is for a girl named Kylie McKee.” Oh……….OH, YOU MEAN HE IS MINE? Kylie’s dream horse is called Scotty in the barn but his registered name is Smithfield’s Scotsman. Thank you Sue and Anna Lencioni for making Kylie’s dream come true!

The hunter divisions continue to grow, with the western divisions showing a dramatic increase in numbers. There is a class for all due to the many age and class divisions that are offered. I collect ribbons. I collect ribbons because I win them when I ride horses.
I started my collection many years ago.
I won my first place ribbon at the horse stable.
My friend, Jackie, helped me at the horse Stable. She led the horse for me.
I keep my ribbon collection in my bedroom.
I like my collection.

Annie is not only an accomplished rider but she is also a very talented violin player!! Five years ago Annie started playing the violin and now she can really make her violin sing! We are very proud of Annie’s accomplishments both here at the stable and in school where she is an excellent student and actively involved with the Drama Club, the school Orchestra, the Model United Nations, and writing for her school newspaper.

Annie’s warmth, patience, and understanding have made her a sought after counselor at the Quality Stable’s summer camps. She is always there with a reassuring smile!

This past summer Annie successfully showed to blue ribbons both of the Morgan horses that she rides—Taproot Flagship and Taproot Pilot—way to go Annie! We are all proud of YOU!

Regardless of what is going on during the camp days there is much to be learned
and fun to be had by ALL!

The time is filled with riding, swimming, crafting, exercising, games,
eating turkey, corn & the famous magic potatoes, barn chores, and of course
the overnight!

It was a normal Friday afternoon. I was tired from school, but I was excited about horseback riding lessons at four o’clock. In about half an hour it was time
to go to horseback riding lessons. I got ready pretty fast.

In a few minutes I was at Quality Stables (the place I take horseback riding lesson.). Miss Jackie is the person who teaches me. Miss Jackie said that I was
not riding Lou Lou, the horse I usually ride. She said that I was riding Flagship instead. Wow! Flagship! Cool! I love Lou Lou, but I’ve been wanting to ride a different horse for a while. Everybody likes to try something new! When I got up on Flagship I felt taller, because Flagship is taller than Lou Lou, but the thing that made me the most nervous was when he trotted or cantered he would bump forward. It was so scary! When I let out a little shriek, Miss Jackie reminded me that horses can sense fear and react to it. My job was to be brave and help stay calm. It was not easy.

The half hour flew by. When my lesson was over, I was sad. I didn’t want it to end. I couldn’t wait for next week’s lesson, because since I rode Flagship, I felt
like I could ride anything! So, it was not such a normal afternoon after all.

Thank you for your interest in Quality Stables.

Please feel free to call, e-mail, or stop by and visit.
